Day 13

10:52 PM
Awesome day doesn’t even cover it! Today made all the school work, bugs, hot weather, and bad food worth it. We woke up to an excessively peppy tour guide who ushered us onto a new bus. I was in a horrible mood (happy people in the morning rub me the wrong way), and there were roaches and fleas on the bus. We had to make sure we got the academic part of the day in so we went to a Hakka cultural park. Pretty much it was a park dedicated to the aboriginal tribe of Hakka that had lived there. Not a tour I would ever do on my own, especially since it was a million degrees again.
Now the trip gets good! We loaded back onto the bus and went to lunch. It was a ten course meal, all of which was a bit scary to me. I couldn’t get over the shrimp eyes staring at me…or how they bled when you cracked them open. We also had sashimi (raw fish), deep friend tuna tail, squid eggs, and several other dishes. Thank goodness for the 7-11 down the road and the snacks I bought!
Another two hours on the bus and we reached our ‘water activity’. I was still in a mood by this point and the last thing I wanted to do was climb into a hot wet suit when I was already so hot, but I lost the argument and did so anyways.
I’m glad I did! To get to the beach we rode in a van that had no door-an interesting experience to say the least. I wish I could put into words the beauty that we saw once we got to the beach. We all waded out and got to go snorkeling along the coral reefs. The fish were profound. There were colors and shapes I could have never imagined. Purple with squares, vibrant blues, hues of red and funny patterns adorned the backs of the fish. They were large, they were small and some were camouflaged. I had a lot of fun playing with the purple Christmas tree plants.
We snorkeled out to a dock where a speed boat was waiting for us. Splitting into two groups (me in the first of course!) we got to try out banana boating, aka tubing on a thing that’s shaped like a banana. I fell off with a little help from the feet in front of me. It was so much fun! The guy driving the boat didn’t take it easy either. After both the groups went (the other group flipping the whole tube over) we unloaded at the dock and snorkeled back.
This isn’t even the best part of the day!
Next we headed to the hotel (or should I say the resort) to unload our stuff. Wow…that’s the only way to describe the resort. Remember that hotel I stayed in while I was in Hawaii? Double the amazingness and that might be close to how awesome this place is. There is a pool that wraps around the resort and goes through caves. We even have a waterfall, bell boys, and a spa. When I get married someday this would be the perfect place for a honeymoon.
For dinner we went down to Kenting Street and got Italian. Normal food!!! I had a wonderful salmon fettuccine alfredo. To drink I got a passion fruit smoothie that was even better than it sounds, and it sounds pretty good!
Now I’m laying in this massive bed enjoying being a princess for a day!

PS-All the bad weather is going to miss us
